I've been enchanted with the idea of a kitchen banquette recently.  I currently have an island - which is great.  But there is something very civilized about sitting down at a table.  From small intimate dinners to family sunday breakfasts.  Perhaps what appeals to me is that you separate yourself from the cooking mess.  Which will be right behind you, but not in your line of sight.  Hmmm...next kitchen?

Artist Studio Love

My studio is getting a wee bit tight these days.  With jewelry and letterpress jobs going on, I've got boxes upon boxes of supplies piling up.  Needless to say, it's getting hard to breathe in there.  When I saw this photo of a garage I thought it would make a perfect studio.  I love the abundance of glass and sliding garage doors.  A perfect place to spread out all of my projects.

Decorating a Girl's Bedroom - DIY Style

One year ago my daughter's room resembled a poster store.  She plastered posters of all her favorite pop stars into a haphazard collage.  It was, let's say very entertaining.  She has since ripped everything down and now has a completely blank walls.  Every time I walk into her room it is a blank canvas waiting for work.  Nevertheless, we have very different styles and I'm not making any headway in the "let me decorate your room" department.  I can always dream, right.  All photos are from Houzz, a great inspirational resource for interiors.

House of Glass & Concrete in Barcelona

My husband likes to tease me sometimes.   This morning he sent me a link to the New York Times with images of the above house.  No ordinary house, but a six story house of glass and concrete in Barcelona.  Like I said, he is a tease.  He knows I have a real weakness for homes that incorporate concrete into its design.  I think this place has everything I could want.  Lots of light, steel, bookshelves, terrace, and a yard.  To swoon over more pictures check out the full New York Times post here.

Studio Inspiration

I really could use a larger studio space but that's not happening any time soon, so instead I've been collecting images of what I would like a new and improved space to be.  I love the look of the high ceiling and brick wall in the first photo and the clean open workspace in the second photo.  (you can insert a lot of sighing here)

British Bus Route Signs

I found this article in the New York Times today on vintage British bus route cloth and new I had to post about it.  For all you typography lovers out there, this deserves a serious crush.  Check out their site  -- British Route Sign Designs.

Blue Tiled Bathroom = Love

I have a thing for the color blue, especially blue tiles.  I have cobalt blue tiles in my kitchen and blue glass tiles in the guest bathroom.  I think I have found my perfect bathroom - with beautiful blue subway tiles.  Heaven!  I found these pictures from an ideabook on Houzz, curated by Margaret Everton. 

The Jane Hotel

 

I'm sure everyone in NYC has heard of The Jane Hotel, but somehow it has escaped me.  This hotel features:  standard cabins - sleeps one, bunk cabins - sleeps two bunk bed style, and the captains cabin - regular room.  I could see my kids loving the bunk cabin.  All the rooms are styled after old ship cabins.  Very cool indeed.

 

Pullman Wine Bar

While browsing through Apartment Therapy, I stumbled across this fantastic chandelier at the Pullman Wine Bar in Montreal.  The design of this piece is both so modern and old world.  Next time I am heading to Montreal I will be checking them out. 

Tress Suspension Lamps

I love the look of these hanging lights.  They look like cut paper, but are actually lacquered fiberglass.  Beautiful.  You can find them at Hive.

Room for a boy

I would love for my son's room to look like this.  Mid century modernish, great design, masculine lines, and clean.  (As in not a million things all over the floor.)

Turquoise

I love the color turquoise.  Even before Pantone named it color of the year for 2010, I loved it.  I've been obsessing about painting a wall in my house turquoise, but can't decide on the exact wall.  A few shots of turquoise love...
